A PRAYER OF HABAKKUK THE PROPHET<\/strong><\/p>\n UPON SHIGIONOTH.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n O LORD,<\/p>\n I have heard thy speech,<\/p>\n and was afraid:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n O LORD,<\/p>\n revive thy work in the midst of the years,<\/p>\n in the midst of the years make known;<\/p>\n in wrath remember mercy.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n God came from Teman,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and the Holy One from mount Paran.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Selah.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n His glory covered the heavens,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and the earth was full of his praise.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n And his brightness was as the light;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n he had horns coming out of his hand:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and there was the hiding of his power.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Before him went the pestilence,<\/p>\n and burning coals went forth at his feet.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He stood,<\/p>\n and measured the earth:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n he beheld,<\/p>\n and drove asunder the nations;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and the everlasting mountains were scattered,<\/p>\n the perpetual hills did bow:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n his ways are everlasting.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I SAW THE TENTS OF CUSHAN IN AFFLICTION:<\/p>\n AND THE CURTAINS OF THE LAND OF MIDIAN<\/p>\n DID TREMBLE.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Was the LORD displeased against the rivers?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n was thine anger against the rivers?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n was thy wrath against the sea,<\/p>\n that thou didst ride upon thine horses<\/p>\n and thy chariots of salvation?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thy bow was made quite naked,<\/p>\n according to the oaths of the tribes,<\/p>\n even thy word.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Selah.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.<\/p>\n The mountains saw thee,<\/p>\n and they trembled:<\/p>\n the overflowing of the water passed by:<\/p>\n the deep uttered his voice,<\/p>\n and lifted up his hands on high.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The sun and moon stood still in their habitation<\/em>:<\/p>\n at the light of thine arrows they went,<\/p>\n and at the shining of thy glittering spear.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thou didst march through the land<\/p>\n in indignation,<\/p>\n thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people,<\/p>\n even for salvation with thine anointed;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n thou woundedst the head<\/p>\n out of the house of the wicked,<\/p>\n by discovering the foundation unto the neck.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Selah.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thou didst strike through with his staves<\/p>\n the head of his villages:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses,<\/p>\n through the heap of great waters.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n When I heard,<\/p>\n my belly trembled;<\/p>\n my lips quivered at the voice:<\/p>\n rottenness entered into my bones,<\/p>\n and I trembled in myself,<\/p>\n that I might rest in the day of trouble:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n when he cometh up unto the people,<\/p>\n he will invade them with his troops.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Although the fig tree shall not blossom,<\/p>\n neither shall fruit be in the vines;<\/p>\n the labour of the olive shall fail,<\/p>\n and the fields shall yield no meat;<\/p>\n the flock shall be cut off from the fold,<\/p>\n and there shall be no herd in the stalls:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,<\/p>\n I will joy in the God of my salvation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The LORD God is my strength,<\/p>\n and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet,<\/p>\n and he will make me to walk<\/p>\n upon mine high places.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n next<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n prev<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A PRAYER OF HABAKKUK THE PROPHET UPON SHIGIONOTH.
