IN THE FIRST YEAR OF DARIUS<\/strong><\/p>\n THE SON OF AHASUERUS,<\/strong><\/p>\n OF THE SEED OF THE MEDES,<\/strong><\/p>\n WHICH WAS MADE KING<\/strong><\/p>\n OVER THE REALMS OF THE CHALDEANS;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the first year of his reign<\/p>\n I Daniel understood by books<\/p>\n the number of the years,<\/p>\n whereof the word of the LORD<\/p>\n came to Jeremiah the prophet,<\/p>\n that he would accomplish<\/p>\n seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And I set my face unto the Lord God,<\/p>\n to seek by prayer and supplications,<\/p>\n with fasting, and sackcloth,<\/p>\n and ashes:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And I prayed unto the LORD my God,<\/p>\n and made my confession,<\/p>\n and said,<\/p>\n O Lord,<\/p>\n the great and dreadful God,<\/p>\n keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him,<\/p>\n and to them that keep his commandments;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We have sinned,<\/p>\n and have committed iniquity,<\/p>\n and have done wickedly,<\/p>\n and have rebelled,<\/p>\n even by departing from thy precepts<\/p>\n and from thy judgments:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Neither have we hearkened<\/p>\n unto thy servants the prophets,<\/p>\n which spake in thy name<\/p>\n to our kings,<\/p>\n our princes,<\/p>\n and our fathers,<\/p>\n and to all the people of the land.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n O Lord,<\/p>\n righteousness belongeth unto thee,<\/p>\n but unto us confusion of faces,<\/p>\n as at this day;<\/p>\n to the men of Judah,<\/p>\n and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,<\/p>\n and unto all Israel,<\/p>\n that are near,<\/p>\n and that are far off,<\/p>\n through all the countries<\/p>\n whither thou hast driven them,<\/p>\n because of their trespass<\/p>\n that they have trespassed against thee.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n O Lord,<\/p>\n to us belongeth confusion of face,<\/p>\n to our kings,<\/p>\n to our princes,<\/p>\n and to our fathers,<\/p>\n because we have sinned against thee.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n To the Lord our God belong mercies<\/p>\n and forgivenesses,<\/p>\n though we have rebelled against him;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Neither have we obeyed<\/p>\n the voice of the LORD our God,<\/p>\n to walk in his laws,<\/p>\n which he set before us<\/p>\n by his servants the prophets.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Yea,<\/p>\n all Israel have transgressed thy law,<\/p>\n even by departing,<\/p>\n that they might not obey thy voice;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n therefore the curse is poured upon us,<\/p>\n and the oath that is written<\/p>\n in the law of Moses the servant of God,<\/p>\n because we have sinned against him.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And he hath confirmed his words,<\/p>\n which he spake against us,<\/p>\n and against our judges that judged us,<\/p>\n by bringing upon us a great evil:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for under the whole heaven<\/p>\n hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As it is written in the law of Moses,<\/p>\n all this evil is come upon us:<\/p>\n yet made we not our prayer<\/p>\n before the LORD our God,<\/p>\n that we might turn from our iniquities,<\/p>\n and understand thy truth.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Therefore hath the LORD<\/p>\n watched upon the evil,<\/p>\n and brought it upon us:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for the LORD our God<\/p>\n is righteous<\/p>\n in all his works<\/p>\n which he doeth:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for we obeyed not his voice.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And now,<\/p>\n O Lord our God,<\/p>\n that hast brought thy people forth<\/p>\n out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand,<\/p>\n and hast gotten thee renown,<\/p>\n as at this day;<\/p>\n we have sinned,<\/p>\n we have done wickedly.<\/p>\n O Lord,<\/p>\n according to all thy righteousness,<\/p>\n I beseech thee,<\/p>\n let thine anger<\/p>\n and thy fury<\/p>\n be turned away from thy city Jerusalem,<\/p>\n thy holy mountain:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n because for our sins,<\/p>\n and for the iniquities of our fathers,<\/p>\n Jerusalem and thy people<\/p>\n are become a reproach<\/p>\n to all that are about us.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Now therefore,<\/p>\n O our God,<\/p>\n hear the prayer of thy servant,<\/p>\n and his supplications,<\/p>\n and cause thy face to shine<\/p>\n upon thy sanctuary that is desolate,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for the Lord’s sake.<\/p>\n O my God,<\/p>\n incline thine ear,<\/p>\n and hear;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n open thine eyes,<\/p>\n and behold our desolations,<\/p>\n and the city which is called by thy name:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for we do not present our supplications<\/p>\n before thee<\/p>\n for our righteousnesses,<\/p>\n but for thy great mercies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n O Lord,<\/p>\n hear;<\/p>\n O Lord,<\/p>\n forgive;<\/p>\n O Lord,<\/p>\n hearken<\/p>\n and do;<\/p>\n defer not,<\/p>\n for thine own sake,<\/p>\n O my God:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for thy city<\/p>\n and thy people<\/p>\n are called by thy name.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And whiles I was speaking,<\/p>\n and praying,<\/p>\n and confessing my sin<\/p>\n and the sin of my people Israel,<\/p>\n and presenting my supplication<\/p>\n before the LORD my God<\/p>\n for the holy mountain of my God;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Yea,<\/p>\n whiles I was speaking in prayer,<\/p>\n even the man Gabriel,<\/p>\n whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning,<\/p>\n being caused to fly swiftly,<\/p>\n touched me about the time of the evening oblation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And he informed me,<\/p>\n and talked with me,<\/p>\n and said,<\/p>\n O Daniel,<\/p>\n I am now come forth to give thee skill<\/p>\n and understanding.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the beginning of thy supplications<\/p>\n the commandment came forth,<\/p>\n and I am come to shew thee;<\/p>\n for thou art greatly beloved:<\/p>\n therefore understand the matter,<\/p>\n and consider the vision.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Seventy weeks<\/em><\/p>\n are determined upon thy people<\/em><\/p>\n and upon thy holy city,<\/em><\/p>\n to finish the transgression,<\/em><\/p>\n and to make an end of sins<\/em>,<\/p>\n and to make reconciliation for iniquity,<\/p>\n and to bring in everlasting righteousness,<\/p>\n and to seal up the vision and prophecy,<\/p>\n and to anoint the most Holy.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Know therefore<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and understand,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n that from the going forth<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n of the commandment to restore<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and to build Jerusalem<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n unto the Messiah the Prince<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n shall be seven weeks,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and threescore and two weeks:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n the street shall be built again,<\/p>\n and the wall,<\/p>\n even in troublous times.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And after threescore and two weeks<\/em><\/p>\n shall Messiah be cut off,<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n but not for himself:<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n and the people of the prince that shall come<\/em><\/p>\n shall destroy the city<\/em><\/p>\n and the sanctuary;<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n and the end thereof<\/p>\n shall be with a flood,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and unto the end of the war<\/p>\n desolations are determined.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And he shall confirm the covenant<\/p>\n with many<\/p>\n for one week:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and<\/p>\n in the midst of the week<\/p>\n he shall cause the sacrifice<\/p>\n and the oblation to cease,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and for the overspreading of abominations<\/p>\n he shall make it desolate,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n even until the consummation,<\/p>\n and that determined<\/p>\n shall be
