<\/p>\n
IN THE FIRST YEAR<\/strong><\/p>\n OF BELSHAZZAR KING OF BABYLON<\/strong><\/p>\n DANIEL HAD A DREAM<\/strong><\/p>\n AND VISIONS OF HIS HEAD<\/strong><\/p>\n UPON HIS BED:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n THEN HE WROTE THE DREAM,<\/strong><\/p>\n AND TOLD THE SUM OF THE MATTERS.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Daniel spake and said,<\/p>\n I saw in my vision by night,<\/p>\n and, behold,<\/p>\n the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And four great beasts came up from the sea,<\/p>\n diverse one from another.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The first was like a lion,<\/p>\n and had eagle’s wings:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked,<\/p>\n and it was lifted up from the earth,<\/p>\n and made stand upon the feet as a man,<\/p>\n and a man’s heart was given to it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And behold another beast,<\/p>\n a second,<\/p>\n like to a bear,<\/p>\n and it raised up itself on one side,<\/p>\n and it had three ribs in the mouth of it<\/p>\n between the teeth of it:<\/p>\n and they said thus unto it,<\/p>\n Arise, devour much flesh.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n After this I beheld,<\/p>\n and lo another,<\/p>\n like a leopard,<\/p>\n which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl;<\/p>\n the beast had also four heads;<\/p>\n and dominion was given to it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n After this I saw in the night visions,<\/p>\n and behold a fourth beast,<\/p>\n dreadful and terrible,<\/p>\n and strong exceedingly;<\/p>\n and it had great iron teeth:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n it devoured and brake in pieces,<\/p>\n and stamped the residue with the feet of it:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and it was diverse from all the beasts<\/p>\n that were before it;<\/p>\n and it had ten horns<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I considered the horns,<\/p>\n and, behold,<\/p>\n there came up among them another little horn,<\/em><\/p>\n before whom there were three of the first horns<\/em><\/p>\n plucked up by the roots<\/em>:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and, behold,<\/p>\n in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man,<\/p>\n and a mouth speaking great things.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I beheld till the thrones were cast down,<\/p>\n and the Ancient of days did sit,<\/p>\n whose garment was white as snow,<\/p>\n and the hair of his head like the pure wool:<\/p>\n his throne was like the fiery flame,<\/p>\n and his wheels as burning fire.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him:<\/p>\n thousand thousands ministered unto him,<\/p>\n and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him:<\/p>\n the judgment was set,<\/p>\n and the books were opened.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I beheld then<\/p>\n because of the voice of the great words<\/p>\n which the horn spake:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I beheld even till the beast was slain,<\/p>\n and his body destroyed,<\/p>\n and given to the burning flame.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As concerning the rest of the beasts,<\/p>\n they had their dominion taken away:<\/p>\n yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I saw in the night visions,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and, behold,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n one like the Son of man<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n came with the clouds of heaven,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and came to the Ancient of days,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and they brought him near before him.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n And there was given him dominion,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and glory,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and a kingdom,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n that all people,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n nations,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and languages,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n should serve him:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n his dominion is an everlasting dominion,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n which shall not pass away,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n I Daniel was grieved in my spirit<\/p>\n in the midst of my body,<\/p>\n and the visions of my head troubled me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I came near unto one of them that stood by,<\/p>\n and asked him the truth of all this.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So he told me,<\/p>\n and made me know the interpretation of the things.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n These great beasts,<\/p>\n which are four,<\/p>\n are four kings,<\/p>\n which shall arise out of the earth.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom,<\/p>\n and possess the kingdom for ever,<\/p>\n even for ever and ever.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast,<\/p>\n which was diverse from all the others,<\/p>\n exceeding dreadful,<\/p>\n whose teeth were of iron,<\/p>\n and his nails of brass;<\/p>\n which devoured,<\/p>\n brake in pieces,<\/p>\n and stamped the residue with his feet;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And of the ten horns that were in his head,<\/em><\/p>\n and of the other which came up,<\/em><\/p>\n and before whom three fell;<\/em><\/p>\n even of that horn that had eyes,<\/em><\/p>\n and a mouth that spake very great things,<\/em><\/p>\n whose look was more stout than his fellows.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n I beheld,<\/em><\/p>\n and the same horn made war with the saints,<\/em><\/p>\n and prevailed against them;<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Until the Ancient of days came,<\/em><\/p>\n and judgment was given to the saints of the most High;<\/em><\/p>\n and the time came<\/em><\/p>\n that the saints possessed the kingdom.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thus he said,<\/p>\n The fourth beast<\/p>\n shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth,<\/p>\n which shall be diverse from all kingdoms,<\/p>\n and shall devour the whole earth,<\/p>\n and shall tread it down,<\/p>\n and break it in pieces.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the ten horns out of this kingdom<\/em><\/p>\n are ten kings that shall arise:<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n and another shall rise after them;<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n and he shall be diverse from the first,<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n and he shall subdue three kings.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n And he shall speak great words against the most High,<\/em><\/p>\n and shall wear out the saints of the most High,<\/em><\/p>\n and think to change times and laws:<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n and they shall be given into his hand<\/em><\/p>\n until a time<\/em><\/p>\n and times<\/em><\/p>\n and the dividing of time.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n But the judgment shall sit,<\/p>\n and they shall take away his dominion,<\/p>\n to consume and to destroy it unto the end.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the kingdom and dominion,<\/p>\n and the greatness of the kingdom<\/p>\n under the whole heaven,<\/p>\n shall be given to the people<\/p>\n of the saints of the most High,<\/p>\n whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,<\/p>\n and all dominions shall serve and obey him.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hitherto is the end of the matter.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As for me Daniel,<\/p>\n my cogitations much troubled me,<\/p>\n and my countenance changed in me:<\/p>\n but I kept the
