TO THE CHIEF MUSICIAN,<\/strong><\/p>\n A PSALM OF DAVID.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n IN THEE, O LORD, DO I PUT MY TRUST;<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n let me never be ashamed:<\/p>\n deliver me in thy righteousness.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bow down thine ear to me;<\/p>\n deliver me speedily:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n be thou my strong rock,<\/p>\n for an house of defence to save me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For thou art my rock<\/p>\n and my fortress;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n therefore for thy name’s sake lead me,<\/p>\n and guide me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Pull me out of the net<\/p>\n that they have laid privily for me:<\/p>\n for thou art my strength.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Into thine hand I commit my spirit:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n thou hast redeemed me,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n O LORD God of truth.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n I have hated them that regard lying vanities:<\/p>\n but I trust in the LORD.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I will be glad<\/p>\n and rejoice in thy mercy:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for thou hast considered my trouble;<\/p>\n thou hast known my soul in adversities;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy:<\/p>\n thou hast set my feet in a large room.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Have mercy upon me,<\/p>\n O LORD,<\/p>\n for I am in trouble:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n mine eye is consumed with grief,<\/p>\n yea, my soul and my belly.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For my life is spent with grief,<\/p>\n and my years with sighing:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n my strength faileth<\/p>\n because of mine iniquity,<\/p>\n and my bones are consumed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I was a reproach among all mine enemies,<\/p>\n but especially among my neighbours,<\/p>\n and a fear to mine acquaintance:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n they that did see me without fled from me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind:<\/p>\n I am like a broken vessel.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For I have heard the slander of many:<\/p>\n fear was on every side:<\/p>\n while they took counsel together against me,<\/p>\n they devised to take away my life.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But I trusted in thee,<\/p>\n O LORD:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I said,<\/p>\n Thou art my God.<\/p>\n My times are in thy hand:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n deliver me from the hand of mine enemies,<\/p>\n and from them that persecute me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Make thy face to shine upon thy servant:<\/p>\n save me for thy mercies’ sake.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Let me not be ashamed,<\/p>\n O LORD;<\/p>\n for I have called upon thee:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n let the wicked be ashamed,<\/p>\n and let them be silent in the grave.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Let the lying lips be put to silence;<\/p>\n which speak grievous things proudly<\/p>\n and contemptuously<\/p>\n against the righteous.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Oh how great is thy goodness,<\/p>\n which thou hast laid up<\/p>\n for them that fear thee;<\/p>\n which thou hast wrought<\/p>\n for them that trust in thee<\/p>\n before the sons of men!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thou shalt hide them<\/p>\n in the secret of thy presence<\/p>\n from the pride of man:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion<\/p>\n from the strife of tongues.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Blessed be the LORD:<\/p>\n for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness<\/p>\n in a strong city.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For I said in my haste,<\/p>\n I am cut off from before thine eyes:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications<\/p>\n when I cried unto thee.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n O love the LORD,<\/p>\n all ye his saints:<\/p>\n for the LORD preserveth the faithful,<\/p>\n and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Be of good courage,<\/p>\n and he shall strengthen your heart,<\/p>\n all ye that hope in the LORD.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n next<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n prev<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" TO THE CHIEF MUSICIAN, A PSALM OF DAVID.
