TO THE CHIEF MUSICIAN<\/strong><\/p>\n UPON AIJELETH SHAHAR,<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A PSALM OF DAVID.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n My God,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n my God,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n why hast thou forsaken me?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n why art thou so far from helping me,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and from the words of my roaring?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n O my God,<\/p>\n I cry in the daytime,<\/p>\n but thou hearest not;<\/p>\n and in the night season,<\/p>\n and am not silent.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But thou art holy,<\/p>\n O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Our fathers trusted in thee:<\/p>\n they trusted,<\/p>\n and thou didst deliver them.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n They cried unto thee,<\/p>\n and were delivered:<\/p>\n they trusted in thee,<\/p>\n and were not confounded.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But I am a worm,<\/p>\n and no man;<\/p>\n a reproach of men,<\/p>\n and despised of the people.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n All they that see me laugh me to scorn:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n they shoot out the lip,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n they shake the head,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n saying,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n He trusted on the LORD<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n that he would deliver him:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n let him deliver him,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n seeing he delighted in him.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n But thou art he that took me out of the womb:<\/p>\n thou didst make me hope<\/p>\n when I was upon my mother’s breasts.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I was cast upon thee from the womb:<\/p>\n thou art my God from my mother’s belly.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Be not far from me;<\/p>\n for trouble is near;<\/p>\n for there is none to help.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Many bulls have compassed me:<\/p>\n strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n They gaped upon me with their mouths,<\/p>\n as a ravening and a roaring lion.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I am poured out like water,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and all my bones are out of joint:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n my heart is like wax;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n it is melted in the midst of my bowels.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n My strength is dried up like a potsherd;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n For dogs have compassed me:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n they pierced my hands and my feet.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n I may tell all my bones:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n they look and stare upon me.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n They part my garments among them,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and cast lots upon my vesture.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n But be not thou far from me,<\/p>\n O LORD:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n O my strength,<\/p>\n haste thee to help me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Deliver my soul from the sword;<\/p>\n my darling from the power of the dog.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Save me from the lion’s mouth:<\/p>\n for thou hast heard me<\/p>\n from the horns of the unicorns.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I will declare thy name<\/p>\n unto my brethren:<\/p>\n in the midst of the congregation<\/p>\n will I praise thee.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ye that fear the LORD,<\/p>\n praise him;<\/p>\n all ye the seed of Jacob,<\/p>\n glorify him;<\/p>\n and fear him,<\/p>\n all ye the seed of Israel.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For he hath not despised<\/p>\n nor abhorred<\/p>\n the affliction of the afflicted;<\/p>\n neither hath he hid his face from him;<\/p>\n but when he cried unto him,<\/p>\n he heard.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation:<\/p>\n I will pay my vows before them that fear him.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The meek shall eat and be satisfied:<\/p>\n they shall praise the LORD that seek him:<\/p>\n your heart shall live for ever.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n All the ends of the world shall remember<\/p>\n and turn unto the LORD:<\/p>\n and all the kindreds of the nations<\/p>\n shall worship before thee.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For the kingdom is the LORD’S:<\/p>\n and he is the governor among the nations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship:<\/p>\n all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him:<\/p>\n and none can keep alive his own soul.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A seed shall serve him<\/em>;<\/p>\n it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n They shall come,<\/em><\/p>\n and shall declare his righteousness<\/em><\/p>\n unto a people that shall be born,<\/em><\/p>\n that he hath done this.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n next<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n prev<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" TO THE CHIEF MUSICIAN UPON AIJELETH SHAHAR, A PSALM OF DAVID.
