THE PRIESTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

THE LEVITES<\/strong><\/p>\n

AND ALL THE TRIBE OF LEVI,<\/strong><\/p>\n

SHALL HAVE NO PART<\/strong><\/p>\n

NOR INHERITANCE WITH ISRAEL:<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

they shall eat the offerings of the LORD<\/p>\n

made by fire,<\/p>\n

and his inheritance.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Therefore shall they have no inheritance<\/p>\n

among their brethren:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the LORD is their inheritance,<\/p>\n

as he hath said unto them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And this shall be the priest’s due from the people,<\/p>\n

from them that offer a sacrifice,<\/p>\n

whether it be ox<\/p>\n

or sheep;<\/p>\n

and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder,<\/p>\n

and the two cheeks,<\/p>\n

and the maw.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The firstfruit also of thy corn,<\/p>\n

of thy wine,<\/p>\n

and of thine oil,<\/p>\n

and the first of the fleece of thy sheep,<\/p>\n

shalt thou give him.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For the LORD thy God hath chosen him<\/p>\n

out of all thy tribes,<\/p>\n

to stand to minister<\/p>\n

in the name of the LORD,<\/p>\n

him and his sons for ever.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And if a Levite come from any of thy gates<\/p>\n

out of all Israel,<\/p>\n

where he sojourned,<\/p>\n

and come with all the desire of his mind<\/p>\n

unto the place which the LORD shall choose;<\/p>\n

Then he shall minister<\/p>\n

in the name of the LORD his God,<\/p>\n

as all his brethren the Levites do,<\/p>\n

which stand there before the LORD.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They shall have like portions to eat,<\/p>\n

beside that which cometh<\/p>\n

of the sale of his patrimony.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When thou art come into the land<\/p>\n

which the LORD thy God giveth thee,<\/p>\n

thou shalt not learn to do<\/p>\n

after the abominations of those nations.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There shall not be found among you<\/p>\n

any one that maketh his son<\/p>\n

or his daughter<\/p>\n

to pass through the fire,<\/p>\n

or that useth divination,<\/p>\n

or an observer of times,<\/p>\n

or an enchanter,<\/p>\n

or a witch,<\/p>\n

Or a charmer,<\/p>\n

or a consulter with familiar spirits,<\/p>\n

or a wizard,<\/p>\n

or a necromancer.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For all that do these things<\/p>\n

are an abomination<\/p>\n

unto the LORD:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and because of these abominations<\/p>\n

the LORD thy God doth drive them out<\/p>\n

from before thee.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For these nations,<\/p>\n

which thou shalt possess,<\/p>\n

hearkened unto observers of times,<\/p>\n

and unto diviners:<\/p>\n

but as for thee,<\/p>\n

the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

from the midst of thee,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

of thy brethren,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

like unto me;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

unto him ye shall hearken;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to all that thou desiredst<\/p>\n

of the LORD thy God in Horeb<\/p>\n

in the day of the assembly,<\/p>\n

saying,<\/p>\n

Let me not hear again<\/p>\n

the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see<\/p>\n

this great fire any more,<\/p>\n

that I die not.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And the LORD said unto me,<\/p>\n

They have well spoken<\/p>\n

that which they have spoken.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I will raise them up a Prophet<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

from among their brethren,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

like unto thee,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

and will put my words in his mouth;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

and he shall speak unto them<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

all that I shall command him.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And it shall come to pass,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

that whosoever will not hearken<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

unto my words<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

which he shall speak in my name,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I will require it of him.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But the prophet,<\/p>\n

which shall presume to speak a word in my name,<\/p>\n

which I have not commanded him to speak,<\/p>\n

or that shall speak in the name of other gods,<\/p>\n

even that prophet shall die.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And if thou say in thine heart,<\/p>\n

How shall we know the word<\/p>\n

which the LORD hath not spoken?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When a prophet speaketh<\/p>\n

in the name of the LORD,<\/p>\n

if the thing follow not,<\/p>\n

nor come to pass,<\/p>\n

that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken,<\/p>\n

but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously:<\/p>\n

thou shalt not be afraid of him.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations,<\/p>\n

whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee,<\/p>\n

and thou succeedest them,<\/p>\n

and dwellest in their cities,<\/p>\n

and in their houses;<\/p>\n

Thou shalt separate three cities for thee<\/p>\n

in the midst of thy land,<\/p>\n

which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thou shalt prepare thee a way,<\/p>\n

and divide the coasts of thy land,<\/p>\n

which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit,<\/p>\n

into three parts,<\/p>\n

that every slayer may flee thither.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And this is the case of the slayer,<\/p>\n

which shall flee thither,<\/p>\n

that he may live:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly,<\/p>\n

whom he hated not in time past;<\/p>\n

As when a man goeth into the wood<\/p>\n

with his neighbour to hew wood,<\/p>\n

and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe<\/p>\n

to cut down the tree,<\/p>\n

and the head slippeth from the helve,<\/p>\n

and lighteth upon his neighbour,<\/p>\n

that he die;<\/p>\n

he shall flee unto one of those cities,<\/p>\n

and live:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer,<\/p>\n

while his heart is hot,<\/p>\n

and overtake him,<\/p>\n

because the way is long,<\/p>\n

and slay him;<\/p>\n

whereas he was not worthy of death,<\/p>\n

inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wherefore I command thee,<\/p>\n

saying,<\/p>\n

Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast,<\/p>\n

as he hath sworn unto thy fathers,<\/p>\n

and give thee all the land which he promised<\/p>\n

to give unto thy fathers;<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If thou shalt keep all these commandments<\/p>\n

to do them,<\/p>\n

which I command thee this day,<\/p>\n

to love the LORD thy God,<\/p>\n

and to walk ever in his ways;<\/p>\n

then shalt thou add three cities more for thee,<\/p>\n

beside these three:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That innocent blood be not shed in thy land,<\/p>\n

which the LORD thy God giveth thee<\/p>\n

for an inheritance,<\/p>\n

and so blood be upon thee.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But if any man hate his neighbour,<\/p>\n

and lie in wait for him,<\/p>\n

and rise up against him,<\/p>\n

and smite him mortally that he die,<\/p>\n

and fleeth into one of these cities:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Then the elders of his city shall send<\/p>\n

and fetch him thence,<\/p>\n

and deliver him<\/p>\n

into the hand of the avenger of blood,<\/p>\n

that he may die.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thine eye shall not pity him,<\/p>\n

but thou shalt put away<\/p>\n

the guilt of innocent blood<\/p>\n

from Israel,<\/p>\n

that it may go well with thee.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark,<\/p>\n

which they of old time have set in thine inheritance,<\/p>\n

which thou shalt inherit in the land<\/p>\n

that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One witness shall not rise up against a man<\/p>\n

for any iniquity,<\/p>\n

or for any sin,<\/p>\n

in any sin that he sinneth:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

at the mouth of two witnesses,<\/p>\n

or at the mouth of three witnesses,<\/p>\n

shall the matter be established.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If a false witness rise up against any man<\/p>\n

to testify against him that which is wrong;<\/p>\n

Then both the men,<\/p>\n

between whom the controversy is,<\/p>\n

shall stand before the LORD,<\/p>\n

before the priests<\/p>\n

and the judges,<\/p>\n

which shall be in those days;<\/p>\n

And the judges shall make diligent inquisition:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and,<\/p>\n

behold,<\/p>\n

if the witness be a false witness,<\/p>\n

and hath testified falsely against his brother;<\/p>\n

Then shall ye do unto him,<\/p>\n

as he had thought to have done unto his brother:<\/p>\n

so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And those which remain shall hear,<\/p>\n

and fear,<\/p>\n

and shall henceforth commit no more<\/p>\n

any such evil among you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And thine eye shall not pity;<\/p>\n

but life shall go for life,<\/p>\n

eye for eye,<\/p>\n

tooth for tooth,<\/p>\n

hand for hand,<\/p>\n

foot for foot.<\/p>\n
