NOW<\/strong><\/p>\n THE SERPENT<\/strong><\/p>\n WAS MORE SUBTIL<\/strong><\/p>\n THAN ANY BEAST OF THE FIELD<\/strong><\/p>\n WHICH THE LORD GOD HAD MADE.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n And he said unto the woman,<\/p>\n Yea,<\/p>\n hath God said,<\/p>\n Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the woman said unto the serpent,<\/p>\n We may eat<\/p>\n of the fruit of the trees of the garden:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But of the fruit<\/p>\n of the tree<\/p>\n which is in the midst of the garden,<\/p>\n God hath said,<\/p>\n Ye shall not eat of it,<\/p>\n neither shall ye touch it,<\/p>\n lest ye die.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the serpent said unto the woman,<\/p>\n Ye shall not surely die:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For God doth know<\/p>\n that in the day ye eat thereof,<\/p>\n then your eyes shall be opened,<\/p>\n and ye shall be as gods,<\/p>\n knowing good and evil.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And when the woman saw<\/p>\n that the tree was good for food,<\/p>\n and that it was pleasant to the eyes,<\/p>\n and a tree to be desired to make one wise,<\/p>\n she took of the fruit thereof,<\/p>\n and did eat,<\/p>\n and gave also unto her husband with her;<\/p>\n and he did eat.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the eyes of them both were opened,<\/p>\n and they knew that they were naked;<\/p>\n and they sewed fig leaves together,<\/p>\n and made themselves aprons.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And they heard the voice of the LORD God<\/p>\n walking in the garden<\/p>\n in the cool of the day:<\/p>\n and Adam and his wife hid themselves<\/p>\n from the presence of the LORD God<\/p>\n amongst the trees of the garden.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the LORD God called unto Adam,<\/p>\n and said unto him,<\/p>\n Where art thou?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And he said,<\/p>\n I heard thy voice in the garden,<\/p>\n and I was afraid,<\/p>\n because I was naked;<\/p>\n and I hid myself.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And he said,<\/p>\n Who told thee that thou wast naked?<\/p>\n Hast thou eaten of the tree,<\/p>\n whereof I commanded thee<\/p>\n that thou shouldest not eat?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the man said,<\/p>\n The woman<\/p>\n whom thou gavest<\/p>\n to be with me,<\/p>\n she gave me of the tree,<\/p>\n and I did eat.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the LORD God said unto the woman,<\/p>\n What is this that thou hast done?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the woman said,<\/p>\n The serpent beguiled me,<\/p>\n and I did eat.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the LORD God said unto the serpent,<\/p>\n Because thou hast done this,<\/p>\n thou art cursed above all cattle,<\/p>\n and above every beast of the field;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n upon thy belly shalt thou go,<\/p>\n and dust shalt thou eat<\/p>\n all the days of thy life:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And I will put enmity<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n between thee and the woman,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and between thy seed and her seed;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n it shall bruise thy head,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n and thou shalt bruise his heel.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Unto the woman he said,<\/p>\n I will greatly multiply thy sorrow<\/p>\n and thy conception;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;<\/p>\n and thy desire shall be to thy husband,<\/p>\n and he shall rule over thee.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And unto Adam he said,<\/p>\n Because thou hast hearkened<\/p>\n unto the voice of thy wife,<\/p>\n and hast eaten of the tree,<\/p>\n of which I commanded thee,<\/p>\n saying,<\/p>\n Thou shalt not eat of it:<\/p>\n cursed is the ground for thy sake;<\/p>\n in sorrow shalt thou eat of it<\/p>\n all the days of thy life;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thorns also and thistles<\/p>\n shall it bring forth to thee;<\/p>\n and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread,<\/p>\n till thou return unto the ground;<\/p>\n for out of it wast thou taken:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n for dust thou art,<\/p>\n and unto dust shalt thou return.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And Adam called his wife’s name Eve;<\/p>\n because she was the mother of all living.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Unto Adam also<\/p>\n and to his wife<\/p>\n did the LORD God make coats of skins,<\/p>\n and clothed them.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And the LORD God said,<\/p>\n Behold,<\/p>\n the man is become as one of us,<\/p>\n to know good and evil:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n and now,<\/p>\n lest he put forth his hand,<\/p>\n and take also of the tree of life,<\/p>\n and eat,<\/p>\n and live for ever:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Therefore the LORD God<\/p>\n sent him forth<\/p>\n from the garden of Eden,<\/p>\n to till the ground from whence he was taken.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So he drove out the man;<\/p>\n and he placed<\/p>\n at the east of the garden of Eden<\/p>\n Cherubims,<\/p>\n and a flaming sword<\/p>\n which turned every way,<\/p>\n to keep the way of the tree of life.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And Adam knew
